The Cradle of Alpine Skiing

Winter after winter, the Cradle of Alpine Skiing has fascinated skiers and snowboarders alike ever since Austria's first surface lift brought comfort to Lech Zürs.

The ski resort itself has grown steadily over the years: 305 kilometres of ski runs and over 200 km of high Alpine powder runs are enough to set a skier’s pulse racing. The certainty of snow from November to April ensures that Lech Zürs is always the top choice for a winter holiday.

Off-piste action on the Arlberg

In addition to the perfectly groomed slopes that are ideal for ambitious carvers, pleasure skiers and families, there are 200 km of high-Alpine powder runs for ski touring, powder snow skiing, freeriding or freeskiing. With appropriate safety equipment consisting of a helmet, avalanche shovel, avalanche transceiver, avalanche probe, first aid kit and bivouac bag, nothing stands in the way of adventure. Nevertheless, we recommend that the off-piste area is only accessible to experienced skiers who are accompanied by a guide. Depending on the weather and snow conditions, they will show you the best routes and slopes. In addition to ski courses, the ski schools also offer ski guides who will guide you safely and responsibly. If you still have any doubts – skiing with a real local guide is an experience you will not forget. We promise!

The Snow & Safety Conference

For all freeriders and ski tourers, we organise the Snow & Safety Conference at the beginning of the season, where scientists and professionals share their experiences with you and present the latest knowledge. All this is done with the aim of minimising the risk on the mountain and making skiing even more fun and safe.

Many of our guests have already spent their winter holidays with their parents in Lech Zürs, have learnt to ‘pizza’ and turn on the Arlberg, and have since been skiing around the world. And yet for their skiing holidays, they always return to Lech Zürs – with or without their parents. The next generation is now learning to ski in Lech Zürs am Arlberg on the same slopes as their parents and instructed by trained pros or their parents or grandparents. From time to time, a family holiday on the Arlberg becomes a family reunion. Family hotels in Lech Zürs are especially geared to families, parents and children and look forward to welcoming them.
