This stage of the Arlberg Trail starts with an ascent to the Galzig. From there, a wide path with great views of St. Christoph am Arlberg leads leisurely towards the pass summit. This is where the Berggeistweg trail begins. Behind the Valluga inn, follow the signs towards Kaltenberghütte (trail no. 19). At the next junction, the Berggeistweg is marked on the hiking signs. The trail starts off gently, then becomes steeper as it climbs to a saddle. With views towards Patteriol and Kaltenberg, you hike to the Maroiseen near the Albona II lift station. A short farm track leads to the old Albonagrat mountain station (not open to the public). With a fantastic view of the Klostertal valley, the trail leads to the Kaltenberghütte at 2,089 m. After a refreshment break, the trail leads across meadows and moors towards the valley with a direct view of the Flexenpass and Zürs. The trail leads steeply downhill, hidden away, past Lake Stubener See with a magnificent view of the stage destination Stuben am Arlberg.
