Twenty-seven years after building their house, five years after paying off all their debts, two years after the last child moved out and a life spent together as a couple, fate deals Günther and Irene Batlogg a cruel blow: their daughter Laura wants to return to her hometown of Frastanz with her American husband and children. Her goal: Günther's house, which is to be converted into a three-generation home. Can the landlord defend himself against the hostile takeover? Especially since he soon has an opponent within his own four walls who is very taken with this idea.

18.12.2025

Raiffeisenbank Lech invites you to a special vernissage on Thursday, 18 December 2025, combining regional identity and poetic paper art.

Under the title ‘Ein Stück Heimat’ (A Piece of Home), Bregenzerwald artist Ulrike Maria Kleber presents powerful portraits of women that are deeply rooted in the tradition of ‘Juppo’ folk costumes. Her works tell of female strength, cultural continuity and the beauty of customs – realised in techniques such as acrylic, watercolour and printmaking. Kleber, trained as a photoengraving artist and artistically influenced by studies with renowned artists, knows how to condense the history and present of the Bregenzerwald into expressive images. Her female figures are silent heroines who embody life in the region and at the same time enable a modern view of tradition.

The exhibition is complemented by the poetic paper works of Hohenems-based graphic designer and artist Daniela Peter, who transforms texts into artistic formats under the label PAPIER&ICH. Her works – leporellos, text umbrellas, hanging texts and more – are produced in small series on recycled cardboard or textured paper with a honeycomb pattern. The texts are condensed thoughts, often in question form, sometimes rhyming, always with depth and a fine sense of language.

Peter designs, prints and produces all pieces himself in Hohenems and has been working freelance since 2012. His works invite you to pause, to give gifts and to live your own shining life – a purist textual pleasure for everyday life and special occasions.

"Chimera"

A community of teachers and students on an island fights to preserve biodiversity. In hanging gardens and lively drawings, they try to save life and not drown themselves. Among them is Alice, who pretends to be Alois on the island. One day she leaves the island and wanders through the deserted expanse of the mainland. After years of oppression, she wants to perceive where she begins and ends, what she desires, and whom she can love. Meanwhile, Gregor, the friend and confidant, remains on the island. Harsh experiences take their toll; he carries a trauma that he tries to contain through drawing. A stranger who appears in the gardens slowly gains access to him. While Alice wanders through drained meadows and scarred forests, Gregor's world begins to shake.

Chimera tells with great poetic power of the pressing issues of our time, of the interconnection of all life and death. It touches deep within and resonates for a long time.
