Kunstvolle Winterimpulse in der Raiffeisenbank Lech

17:00 O'CLOCK

Raiffeisenbank Lech invites you to a special vernissage on Thursday, 18 December 2025, combining regional identity and poetic paper art.

Under the title ‘Ein Stück Heimat’ (A Piece of Home), Bregenzerwald artist Ulrike Maria Kleber presents powerful portraits of women that are deeply rooted in the tradition of ‘Juppo’ folk costumes. Her works tell of female strength, cultural continuity and the beauty of customs – realised in techniques such as acrylic, watercolour and printmaking. Kleber, trained as a photoengraving artist and artistically influenced by studies with renowned artists, knows how to condense the history and present of the Bregenzerwald into expressive images. Her female figures are silent heroines who embody life in the region and at the same time enable a modern view of tradition.

The exhibition is complemented by the poetic paper works of Hohenems-based graphic designer and artist Daniela Peter, who transforms texts into artistic formats under the label PAPIER&ICH. Her works – leporellos, text umbrellas, hanging texts and more – are produced in small series on recycled cardboard or textured paper with a honeycomb pattern. The texts are condensed thoughts, often in question form, sometimes rhyming, always with depth and a fine sense of language.

Peter designs, prints and produces all pieces himself in Hohenems and has been working freelance since 2012. His works invite you to pause, to give gifts and to live your own shining life – a purist textual pleasure for everyday life and special occasions.

Reading with Theresa Bell

Following the success of Sepia and the Awakening of Ink Magic, the second volume of Theresa Bell's atmospheric fantasy trilogy, Sepia and the Conspiracy of Flohall, was released this spring. The story of the orphan girl Sepia, who discovers the secrets of ink magic in the city of Flohall, has proven to be an outstanding debut.

In the first volume, Sepia and the Awakening of Ink Magic, Theresa Bell crafts a richly atmospheric world where ink is more precious than gold, and the art of printing goes hand in hand with alchemy and magic. Bell writes vividly and precisely, with a keen sense of language, rhythm, and character development. Fantastic and historically crafted elements blend convincingly – particularly the depiction of printing is much more than a backdrop: it forms a vibrant aspect of the narrative. In Sepia and the Conspiracy of Flohall, the situation in the city intensifies: as Sepia prepares for her first printing exam, she becomes entangled in a web of intrigue. A mysterious creature with a rat skull appears in Flohall, a legendary book is set to be revealed at the masquerade ball, and traces of a once-feared alchemist suggest that his influence is not yet dispelled.

Once again, Theresa Bell skillfully weaves craftsmanship and fantastic motifs with a gripping conspiracy story. The Sepia series impresses not only with its narrative power but also with the stunning illustrations by artist Eva Schöffmann-Davidov. Alongside the expressive cover design, she brings to life lead lice, ash spirits, and paper creatures in numerous vignettes. Black-and-white and appearing as if drawn with ink, they visually capture the unique flair of the story.

The third and final volume of the series, Sepia and the Secret of the Ink Dragon, will be released in March 2026.

Alpine folk music and choral works for Christmas

Advent and Christmas are still very much alive in Alpine folk music today. When two renowned Tyrolean ensembles dedicate themselves to the music for the quietest time of the year with honest passion and allow themselves to be dramaturgically networked by an expert, then this guarantees an authentic tuning into the most joyful festival of the year. ORF presenter and folk music expert Peter Kostner accompanies concertgoers on a journey through Advent towards the Christian feast. He is supported by the pastoral sound of the Wilten woodwinds, the intimate playing of Yvonne Kathrein on the Tyrolean folk harp and the most original and intimate means of expressing Advent contemplation and Christmas cheer: the purest choral music from the vocal ensemble NovoCanto. Get in the mood for a joyful Christmas with a high-calibre concert evening in the unique ambience of the Lechwelten.

Among the performers:

The Wiltener Holzbläser are a chamber music ensemble consisting primarily of music teachers, which emerged from the renowned Stadtmusikkapelle Innsbruck-Wilten. The six-member group prefers to perform at Christmas time, has been documented on several recordings and has repeatedly given live performances for radio and television.

In its 25 years of activity, the Tyrolean vocal ensemble NovoCanto has built up an excellent reputation as a stylistically confident interpreter of baroque music in particular. The chamber choir performs at numerous festivals, works regularly with international (baroque) orchestras and early music specialists, has released numerous recordings and is also constantly present in the media. However, the singers have also retained their love of their musical roots, authentic folk music. NovoCanto has been led by pedagogue and musician Wolfgang Kostner since the beginning.

Yvonne Kathrein has been playing the Tyrolean folk harp since early childhood and is a passionate performer in various folk music ensembles. She holds a doctorate in linguistics and works full-time on dialect research at the University of Innsbruck.

Peter Kostner is a professor of music education at the University of Teacher Education Tyrol and a programme designer for ORF Tyrol. His wide-ranging activities as a musician, presenter, choir and brass band conductor make him an expert in the field of folk and brass music.
