Oberlech is car-free in winter

Since the mid-1990s, Oberlech has been going its own way: from December to April, this village district at 1,750 meters remains completely car-free — surrounded by imposing peaks and a stillness rarely found elsewhere. This is made possible by a clever underground tunnel system connecting all the hotels. Meanwhile, your car stays safely parked down in the valley: simply park in the Anger parking garage in Lech and glide comfortably up on the Oberlech cable car — no engine noise, no traffic, just an unobstructed view of the mountains.

A modern guidance system leads you through the Anger parking garage directly to the cable car station. In the underground arrival area, we take care of your luggage and issue your personal ticket — just a few minutes later, you're already standing in the middle of Oberlech's car-free winter landscape.

This is made possible by the Anger parking garage itself: located directly across from Lechwelten in the heart of Lech, it offers around 600 parking spaces in a heated, 24-hour parking facility. There's also a fully automatic car wash as well as on-site breakdown assistance and towing service — available not just for overnight guests, but for day visitors too.

Several options are available for the ride up to Oberlech:

• Via your accommodation: Guests staying overnight in Oberlech usually receive their cable car ticket directly through their accommodation — it's best to ask about this when booking.
• With a ski pass: A valid Ski Arlberg ski pass also covers the ride — valid from 4:00 PM the day before.
• Spontaneous: A single ride ticket is always available at the ticket counter at the valley station.
