A southerly current determines the weather throughout this week. Next week indicates a very changeable, partly unsettled westerly current. Until Friday the southerly foehn wind in the mountains will increase again. Weak southerly barrier effects with some snowfall will build up at the Alpine divide, while in the north thereof the clouds with southerly foehn will repeatedly loosen up and make way for the sun. On Saturday this will remain mostly unchanged, only the southerly foehn wind will increase again. Towards Sunday the weather will calm down, only the southerly foehn wind will increase again. On Monday the foehn wind at the front side of a cold front will increase again. Then the current will turn westward and Atlantic low-pressure systems with alternating milder and colder air masses will reach us in quick succession.

The perfect weather for every adventure!

As a meteorologist in the region, I am not only familiar with the small-scale meteorological features that distinguish the Arlberg region from other regions, but also with the demands that locals and guests place on a regional weather report.

Alpine Weather in Lech Zürs

Between the blue sky and the rising rain there are often only a few minutes in the mountains – and a few kilometres. Mountain weather can change quickly. Faster than you’d like. The weather forecast is tricky, which is why automated weather forecasts quickly reach their limits.

However, if the meteorologist lives and works in the Arlberg region and has done so for more than 20 years, automated forecasts become less important. Every single one of our weather forecasts is made by Mr. Pichler himself. With the knowledge of the peculiarities of the Arlberg region, the weather reports from OBERLANDWetter are much more precise. This is particularly important to the meteorologist himself, because on his ski tours, hiking, mountain biking or climbing, he must be able to rely on his forecast.
