The return of late winter expected at the beginning of the week will be followed by spring weather from midweek on. Already Tuesday will bring dry weather conditions and longer sunny spells. Bright weather is expected from Wednesday through Saturday. High-pressure influence will result in mostly sunny conditions and clear skies. The temperatures will increase significantly. The frost line will establish itself around 3000m in the second half of the week. A temporary decrease in temperature might approach from the north on Sunday. However, this development is still rather uncertain.

As a meteorologist in the region, I am not only familiar with the small-scale meteorological features that distinguish the Arlberg region from other regions, but also with the demands that locals and guests place on a regional weather report.

Alpine Weather in Lech Zürs

Between the blue sky and the rising rain there are often only a few minutes in the mountains – and a few kilometres. Mountain weather can change quickly. Faster than you’d like. The weather forecast is tricky, which is why automated weather forecasts quickly reach their limits.

However, if the meteorologist lives and works in the Arlberg region and has done so for more than 20 years, automated forecasts become less important. Every single one of our weather forecasts is made by Mr. Pichler himself. With the knowledge of the peculiarities of the Arlberg region, the weather reports from OBERLANDWetter are much more precise. This is particularly important to the meteorologist himself, because on his ski tours, hiking, mountain biking or climbing, he must be able to rely on his forecast.
