Starting from the Lech post office, follow the promenade in Lech upstream to the valley terminal of Schlegelkopf lift. From the mountain terminal, pass Kriegerhornbahn valley terminal to your left, keep left at the fork, continue to the crossing and follow the trail straight ahead to the Gipslöcher nature reserve. Here you keep left, cross the Gipslöcher, and follow the dirt trail downhill to the right to Grubenalpe. At the alp, the geological educational trail branches off to the right. Follow this trail across the Gipslöcher nature reserve until you reach the bifurcation. Continue downhill to your left, passing lovely blooming meadows to Oberlech. Soon you will come to a fork on the right, the trail ends in a small asphalt road. Passing Hotel Goldener Berg to your right, you reach the Oberlech lifts. Here, you can either ride down on the lift, or walk through Burgwald forest or the Rudtobel ravine and Rudalpe to reach your point of departure.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the Lech Rüfiplatz you take the Oberlech mountain railway and then continue your journey with the Petersbodenbahn cable car. From here you take the path uphill for a short distance, then turn right and over the gravel path back downin the direction of the ”Gipslöcher” turn-off. Then you turn left, cross the (1) Gipslöcher nature reserve and follow the service road on the right down to (2) Gruben alpe. Turn right at the Alpe and take the geological nature trail.Follow the path to the left going downhill through beautiful pastures full of flowers towards Oberlech. You will reach another path. Follow it, keeping right and going downhill. The path leads onto a paved back road. Turn right and walk past the Hotel Goldener Berg and follow the path to the (3) Bergbahn Oberlech cable car. From here, you can either take the cable car back to the starting point or take the hiking path through the ”Burgwald” forest or across the Rud-Alpe back to the starting point.

Public transport

By train to Langen am Arlberg station or St. Anton am Arlberg. From there, buses (No. 91 +92) run regularly to Lech Zürs am Arlberg.

Getting there

From Germany: Take the A96 motorway to Bregenz from there on the A14 motorway to Bludenz, continue on the S16 to the Lech Zürs am Arlberg exit. Follow the B197 up to Alpe Rauz, turn left here onto the B198 through Flexengalerie and over the Flexenpass to Lech Zürs am Arlberg.

From Switzerland: Via the A13 motorway and the Feldkirch, Hohenems or Lustenau border crossing on the A14 motorway to Bludenz. Continue on the S16 until exit Lech Zürs am Arlberg. Follow the B197 up to Alpe Rauz, turn left here onto the B198 through Flexengalerie and over the Flexenpass to Lech Zürs am Arlberg.

From Austria: Via the Inntalautobahn A12 and then via the S16 to the exit St. Anton am Arlberg (Arlberg Pass). Follow the B197 first through St. Anton, then through St. Christoph and over the Arlbergpass to Alpe Rauz. Turn right here onto the B198, drive through Flexengalerie and over the Flexenpass to Lech Zürs am Arlberg.


You can either park your vehicle directly at your host or park it in the underground garage in Anger. The underground car park is located directly in the centre of town opposite Raiffeisenbank Lech. Opening hours 07:00 - 20:00 o' clock.
