Description

The Villa Beer in Vienna, built in 1929–30 by Josef Frank and Oskar Wlach, is a key work of Viennese Modernism. The goal of the restoration was to understand the architectural qualities of the villa and to develop a sustainable conservation concept in line with heritage protection principles. Central to the project was the careful treatment of the historic fabric while simultaneously meeting contemporary requirements for museum operations.

Lothar Trierenberg, owner of the Villa Beer Foundation, states:

“The story and significance of Villa Beer must not disappear into private ownership. They should reach and inspire as many people as possible.”

Christian Prasser studied architecture at the University of Applied Arts Vienna under Prof. Hans Hollein and deepened his spatial understanding through two years of collaboration with stage director Robert Wilson before founding his own architectural practice in 1999: www.cp-architektur.com. Since 2012, Prasser has been Professor of Interior Architecture at the New Design University in St. Pölten. His office has received multiple awards in the fields of hospitality, adaptive reuse, timber construction, and product design.
