In 2000, the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs initiated the Destination Management Monitor Austria (DMMA) association as part of the "Schwerpunktprogramm Innovation (Innovation Priority Programme)." In cooperation with Österreich Werbung, around 20 active members from regional tourism organisations from all over Austria work together on the further development of crucial fields of competence, the future of destination management and goal-oriented destination development. The goal is to increase the competitiveness of Austria’s destinations as well as their management and marketing organisation.
Members mutually support each other and benefit from their partner’s knowledge and experience. In addition, knowledge is exchanged and further developed during research trips, symposia and innovation workshops.
