Zürs in summer

Hiking, mountain flowers & indulgence

Zürs in summer is the perfect place for anyone who isn’t looking for the hustle and bustle of the mountains, but rather the tranquillity in between – and for anyone who loves to combine a summer’s day with outdoor activity and moments of pure enjoyment. Our recommendation therefore takes you from Lech along scenic high-altitude trails towards Zürs, arriving at lunchtime at a spot where alpine hospitality and the mountain summer come together in perfect harmony: at the hotel Enzian.

Anyone who visits Zürs in summer will discover a landscape of flowering alpine meadows, tranquil paths and impressive peaks. This is precisely what makes this special place so appealing. Instead of hustle and bustle, you’ll find panoramic views, nature and a welcome chance to slow down – ideal for anyone who wants to combine hiking in Zürs with relaxation and authentic mountain experiences.

From Lech via the Rüfikopf to Zürs

A particularly lovely summer’s day begins in Lech Zürs am Arlberg – ideally early in the morning, when the peaks are already bathed in sunshine and the mountain air is still crisp and fresh. The Rüfikopf cable car takes you up to the heights, where impressive views of the Arlberg mountain landscape unfold even as you ascend. Once at the top, a hike begins that combines everything that makes a summer in the mountains in Lech Zürs so special: sweeping views, exercise, alpine nature and tranquil beauty.

The route leads towards Zürs, past the Ochsengümple and over the Rauekopfscharte. Along the way, the impressive world of flowers and herbs unfolds, making the Arlberg something truly special in summer. All around the Pazüel and along the high-altitude trails, alpine roses, arnica, Turkish lily and many other alpine plants bloom, lending the slopes their distinctive colour in summer. At times, the view opens up to take in the surrounding peaks; at others, you walk through gentle meadow landscapes that invite you to pause and take in the scenery. It is precisely this blend of sweeping panoramas and subtle natural details that makes this tour so appealing.

A stop for refreshments with a view

A lovely stop-off on the way is the Stuttgarter Hütte or the Trittalpe. Nestled in the high-alpine landscape, it is a wonderful spot for a short break, a cool drink and a moment to catch your breath. Here, you can really feel what makes a summer’s day in the mountains so special: being out and about, the vastness of the landscape and that wonderful feeling of being exactly where you should be.

From there, the trail continues towards Zürs, passing through the flower-filled Pazüel. The descent offers fresh perspectives on the surrounding mountains, making the hike a particularly harmonious experience – from the first metres of ascent in the morning to the relaxed arrival in the valley.

Lunch at the Enzian in Zürs

If you set off early from Lech, you’ll arrive in Zürs just in time for lunch. Our tip for a place to stop for a bite to eat: the Hotel Enzian. After a hike, the sun terrace is the perfect place to take off your walking boots, let your gaze wander over the mountains and round off the morning in style.

The cuisine combines warmth, local produce and Alpine hospitality in a particularly delightful way. This means that a lunch break at the Enzian is not just a quick stop, but an integral part of the summer experience in Zürs – relaxed, enjoyable and with that special atmosphere that makes the place so charming.

A place to take a breather

It is precisely this combination of exercise, a summer in the mountains and delightful stops for refreshments that makes this day so appealing. For anyone who visits Zürs in summer will discover not only flower-filled slopes and trails offering stunning views, but also, in the Hotel Enzian, a place where alpine hospitality, local specialities and relaxed enjoyment come together in a particularly delightful way.

After lunch at the Enzian, we’ll set off at a leisurely pace on the  blue village bus back to Lech – or you could stay a little longer in Zürs and enjoy the tranquillity of this special mountain village. After all, in summer, Zürs isn’t just a place you visit. It’s a place you experience – step by step, with all your senses, and always a little removed from everyday life.
