Back when the pioneers of skiing in the Arlberg region first began to head into the mountains and develop early techniques, they were primarily interested in sports and having fun in nature. Through trial and error, they laid the foundation for the development of ski tourism without knowing what the sport of skiing would one day soon become.

During a dark chapter in the development of skiing, one of the early pioneers of tourism in the Arlberg region was deported because of his Jewish ancestry. For a little less than one hundred years, Zürs and Lech have been home to some of the most upscale hotels and sought-after locations for ski films. While enjoying the winter theatre hike, history and stories about the region come to life.
