Das neugebaute Dorfhus und die Lechwelten im Zentrum von Lech

Architecture with sensibility

Consciously Planned. Verified Against Clear Standards.

Environmental awareness has always been a top priority in Lech: Lechwelten is a concrete expression of this commitment.

The highest quality standards were established already during the planning phase, before construction even began: sustainable building was a central focus throughout the construction of Lechwelten, with the selection of the right materials playing a decisive role. Particular attention was paid to environmentally conscious building processes, from the building materials themselves through to their production. All materials used were also required to be ecologically degradable and easy to dispose of. During procurement, care was taken to avoid long transport distances for building materials. Local and regional trades and craftspeople were commissioned to strengthen value creation in the surrounding region. Over 90 percent of suppliers are based in Vorarlberg, and 100 percent of the building materials they processed came from within Europe.

The building stands out as an energy-efficient structure, holding energy efficiency class A. It is heated entirely via the Lech biomass heating plant. A controlled ventilation system ensures a pleasant indoor climate in any weather. The building's quality has also been assessed externally: Lechwelten achieves Silver level in the klimaaktiv building standard, scoring 753 out of a possible 1,000 points. The assessment covered the areas of location, energy and supply, building materials and construction, as well as comfort and health.

In addition, Lechwelten holds the Austrian Ecolabel for conference and event venues (UZ 200). This means there are two independent certifications, based on defined criteria, covering both the building itself and its event operations.
