Autumn is here - and it will be golden

Autumn in Lech Zürs

In the late-evening sunlight, the shimmer of the mountain meadows is almost golden. A narrow hiking trail leads through this magical landscape, which runs along the shore of the mountain lake. Trees and panoramic views are clearly reflected on the calm surface of the water.

For a brief moment before your journey recommences, you are part of this fantastical scene. The temperatures are mild and the wind breathes life into the colourful landscape. The mountain world of Lech Zürs exerts its own fascination in autumn. Hikers, trail runners and mountain bikers find themselves awestruck in the midst of this blaze of colour as they follow the varied trails between mountain lakes and craggy rocks. Lech Zürs is equally attractive for golfers in autumn. Meanwhile, vintage car fans drive through the colourful backdrop one last time before their treasured classics begin their well-deserved winter hibernation.

Tannberg

In The Footsteps of the Walser People

The Tannberg themed trail helps you to delve deep into the history of the three Walser communities of Warth, Schröcken and Lech. The enchanting landscape around the Karhorn is a special place of calm, particularly in the autumn, and offers a view of the highest peaks around Lech am Arlberg.

Useful Information

The Rüfikopf cable car takes you in a few minutes to the 2,350 m high panorama restaurant. From here you have a fantastic view of the summer holiday resort of Lech am Arlberg and the Tannberg hiking region above Oberlech. The mountain station of the Rüfikopf cable car is the perfect starting point for the first stage of the Green Ring as well as for the Rüfikopf Geoweg, where you can discover the history of the earth along “stone witnesses”.

The Lech local bus company started on 28 June 1997 with four buses and two routes. Today, 11 buses run on six routes, transporting more than 1.2 million people each year. Whether as a ski bus in winter or as a hiking bus in the summer, it would now be hard to imagine Lech Zürs am Arlberg without the “blue fleet”. Buses designed especially for Lech provide a special kind of mobility. In winter, the local bus runs from Lech to Rauz and in summer to Hochkrumbach in the neighbouring community of Warth, as well as running in the Zugertal valley throughout the year.

Hiking combines the desire for nature with the desire for exercise. More space and time provides the impetus for creative processes and encourages imagination, dreams and journeys back in time. The world automatically “decelerates” to the speed that is characteristic of human beings. Those who want to indulge in hiking will find in Lech Zürs am Arlberg well signposted hiking trails that offer everything from family hikes to alpine challenges.

Late summer on the Arlberg

In September and October, Lech Zürs shows off its colourful side. During this special period, meadows and forests change colour in the strongest tones - which is just one of many reasons why hikers enjoy discovering the Arlberg region in autumn

The Lechweg trail or hiking on the Tannberg mountains are just two of the many great hiking routes on the Arlberg. Der Grüne Ring (“The Green Ring”), a three-day stage hike, leads hikers of all ages through a world of fables in which modern legends are interwoven with old myths, accompanied by exhibitions at the sites of the events. Stable weather conditions ensure that surprises wait only on the ground, as there is no danger of thunderstorms in autumn. Hikers and those interested in culture benefit in equal measure. Events such as the Philosophicum, the Best of the Alps Golf Tournament or the Lech literature days further enrich the autumn season. Additional events in autumn can be found in the calendar of events.

Nature isn’t the only one showing off: the cuisine is also colourful. Autumn is the mushroom season and restaurants excitedly feature fine dishes made from regional specialities. New creations and tried and tested dishes can be discovered and rediscovered. Small wonder: the restaurants, the holiday region, the ski area and the communities of Lech Zürs are known for their gourmet skill. They artfully combine tradition and modernity, keeping up with the times while also remaining authentic. A stroll through the villages reveals this flair, but you can taste for yourself with an exquisite multi-course menu in one of the numerous restaurants in Lech Zürs am Arlberg.
