Arlberg’s White Ring, the most legendary ski circuit of the Alps, will once again be the stage for a race like no other. On 21 January 2023, the starting signal will kick off a challenging 22-kilometre race across 5,500 metres of ascents and descents. Experience the pure joy of racing at Der Weisse Ring - Das Rennen ("The White Ring - The Race").
The challenge: descend each of the slopes that connect Lech, Zürs, Zug and Oberlech while completing a circle around the Omeshorn mountain ... and be the fastest. The race officially starts at 9 a.m. on the Rüfikopf mountain in Lech. This year, two racers each will start at intervals of ten seconds. The legendary circuit takes the skiers and snowboarders across the Schüttbodenlift, Trittalpbahn and the infamous Hexenboden slope to Zürs. With plenty of gliding, little jumps and narrow bends, participants will need all their leg strength to prevail. The Seekopfbahn and Madlochbahn chair lifts then transport them to an altitude of 2,444 metres before they take the Zugerbergbahn cable car to the final segment of the competition. Passing the Kriegeralpe and via the Schlegelkopf valley run, they return to Lech, where the finish line and plenty of applause await.
The 22-kilometre route includes five chairlift and cable car rides, during which racers can catch a short break before the next brisk descent. This challenging race requires total concentration and endurance.
‘Der Weisse Ring - Das Rennen ("The White Ring - The Race") will always be the absolute highlight on the racing calendar of anyone who has an undying passion for demanding skiing challenges, be they hobbyists or retired professionals’, says Lech Tourismus Director Hermann Fercher.
All skiers and snowboarders are ranked on an individual basis, with separate categories for women, men and teams. Teams consist of no fewer than four participants and must include at least one woman. There are 1,000 places available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The winners of the spectacular ski race on the Arlberg will be honoured on a commemorative plaque at the Schlegelkopfbahn valley station.

The REMUS Team Challenge
Get your skis ready for Thursday, 19 January 2023: just two days before Der Weisse Ring - Das Rennen ("The White Ring - The Race"), the second edition of the REMUS Team Challenge will kick off at the Flexenarena, with the starting signal sounding at 5 p.m. The team competition, held as a super-G on the slope of the Ski World Cup in Zürs, is limited to 150 participants. Much like Der Weisse Ring - Das Rennen ("The White Ring - The Race"), the REMUS Team Challenge requires all teams to consist of no fewer than four people with at least one woman. After the race, the participants meet at the Friendly Brändle in Zürs for a jolly get-together with their fellow racers. Being quick pays off, too: the fastest 20 finishers (10 women and 10 men) of the REMUS Team Challenge win a preferential starting position among the first 100 starting numbers for Der Weisse Ring - Das Rennen ("The White Ring - The Race"), which takes place two days later.
