The topic of "Safety in the snow" is assuming greater significance with each year that passes. This is evident from, among other things, the appearance on the market each year of increasingly ingenious safety equipment, and freeriders themselves are also better informed than ever about how to deal correctly with snow off-piste. As the managing director of a tourism region known as a freeriding mecca, I am very pleased about this development. Over the past six years of the "Snow and Safety Conference", we have considered it our mission to promote awareness of responsible behaviour in and with deep snow. However, the topic has already been around very much longer here in the Arlberg because freeriding is, of course, deeply rooted in our skiing culture. Participants can again look forward to a diverse programme of expert presentations this year concerning both theory and practice, and based on the very latest knowledge. There will also be the opportunity to test the very latest ski and safety equipment at the very start of the season, to receive information on all safety factors from certified mountain and skiing guides and to observe and also learn from real Freeride professionals about "Line riding".
I am delighted that safety in the snow is a real concern for you and hope that you enjoy an informative stay with us in the Arlberg, as well as a great 2017/18 winter season that could not have a better start than with the SSC.
